Astro-LOA Flash: It’s mid-winter solstice in the southern hemisphere; mid-summer in the north. Traditionally, we celebrate, appreciate and open our eyes to the gifts life brings. Fuel your goals, aspirations and desires by honoring your connection to life, love, nurturing and joy. Today, you do what lights you up, and be glad for it.
The solstice is a turning point, symbolic of endings and new beginnings, and with Mars so close to the sun, your intentions are magnified. Your thoughts and desires literally have wings. Let them fly!
Technical Note: In Astro lingo, the Sun is crossing the AP – the zero degree “Aries” point. What? The sun is nowhere near Aries. It’s 0 degrees of Cancer.
True, but all the Cardinal points of the zodiac, 0 Aries, 0 Cancer, 0 Libra and 0 Capricorn are collectively called the “Aries Point”. If you take a square piece of paper and fold it so each corner is in the same place, you’ll see why.
As the sun crosses the AP, it also triggers other powerful points (the Draconic Nodes) releasing energy to move you along the path. If you want to fast track your abundance, creativity, well-being, love and enlightenment, then focus your thoughts today!
Spot where the four 0 degree Cardinal signs are in your chart. Think greet, engage, give, receive. This is where you go on a Solstice Spree of enthusiasm and joy!Not sure where that is, comment and we’ll give you a hand.
ARIES: Get playful and feisty in the home. Engage with the family, go on a cleaning spree, clear the are with clan members and enjoy some good home cooking.
TAURUS: Start a new course of study, join a community project, get friendly with the written or spoken word. What do you want to say, teach, learn?
GEMINI: Indulge and cherish your core values, develop your talents and be MORE of who you are. Think about what supports your life and love it up.
CANCER: This is a new chapter in your life. Open the door to your dreams by being true to yourself. Let go of old patters and start something new. Something YOU.
LEO: Commune with your unconscious. Take time to reflect on your dreams. Create, walk in nature, engage with spirit, meditation, yoga, healing. Serve.
VIRGO: Hang out with your like-minded others. Their aims and goals are linked to yours and sharing aspirations will fuel them. We all succeed together!
LIBRA: Your career takes a turn for the new and improved, with a chance to carry more responsibility for much greater reward. Better do what you love. Now!
SCORPIO: Take your mind, body or spirit somewhere it’s never been before – meditate, travel, read, learn. You’re after new horizons, explorations and the unknown.
SAGITTARIUS: Intimacy and intensity lights a blaze of passion. Go ahead and take a leap in the dark. You’ll never know, if you don’t. Emotional risks pay off!
CAPRICORN: Partnerships of every kind ignite you desires, heating up energy and leading you places you didn’t know you wanted to go. That’s the plan. Go there.
AQUARIUS: A whole knew relationship to health and well being is waking up. You feel more, do more, create more, when you treat body like your very best friend.
PISCES: Creativity springs from a well of romantic notions. Write, play, choreograph, sing, act. The muse speaks to you through love. Listen in!

Things to do on a Mars VOC
Relax, sleep in, congratulate yourself on what is working, growing, flourishing, and allow the trajectory to take you to the next exciting step. Celebrate!
Things not to do on a Mars VOC
Push, shovel, slave, barter, badger, holler, wrangle, threaten, macro or micro manage, regret, chastise, judge.
Mars is the engine of the psyche. The action station! It burns the fuel to turn the pistons of your life, getting you out of bed in the morning to jump into a new day.
Learn More about the astrology – natal and transit – of Mars on this quick tutorial.
When VOC, it’s ideal to unwind while you fill the tanks! Why? Because Mars has just been through almost all of Taurus and you have burned your Taurus house/planets down to the nib. In the days of the void, you refuel! Joss Whedon, a Cancer btw and clearly adept and self-nurturing and love, says:
Fill the tanks, fill the tanks. Constantly watch things, and things you don’t [normally watch]. Step outside your viewing zone, your reading zone. It’s all fodder but if you only take from one thing then it’ll show. – Joss Whedon
Whether your focused on business, art, helping professions, family, parenting, farming, it doesn’t matter. Find a way to refill what has been depleted. It might be reading, viewing, more exercise, less exercise, more nourishing food, fasting, massage, meditation, parties, sex, intimacy or time on your own. Your inner guidance knows what to do, or not do. Just fill the tanks.
NOTE: It’s usually the Moon’s void of course phase that we track, occurring for hours or a day every 2.5 days, but any planet, other than the sun, goes void of course. There are several ways to measure this. The contemporary way is to note when the Moon or planet is PAST the exact degree of its final major aspect while still in its current sign. So on the 9th of May, when Mars reaches 28 Taurus 24, it makes no applying aspect in that sign until moving into Gemini on the 11th. At that point it immediately applies to the square to Saturn at 2 Sagittarius.
Mars VOID is a really cool time to play with Jeannette Maw’s idea of doing nothing. Nothing but receive!
Let me know in the comments how you fill the tanks.
I’m putting in extra reading, meditation, conscious appreciation and making a career mood board. I’ll blog on that when Mars is in Gemini!

What kind of reading personality are you?
Most of us have a preference for certain kinds of books that fall into multiple genres. We also have a style of reading – eclectic, focused, serial, exacting, flitting, browsing. Whatever our approach, it changes over time, representing healthy evolution.
Can these preferences be related to the zodiac?
Test it for yourself and see!
ARIES: An independent reader. You like to browse for something that spontaneously lights your fire. Who cares what the critics think? This is all about your desires. No need to hold the thrills, chills and spills. Adventure and conflict a must. Action, SF, Romantic Thriller, War, Page Turners.
TAURUS: A slower pace isn’t an issue, as long as there is sensuality and pleasure. Woven into the pages is a true alpha hero and a powerful, high libido female. HEA is probably a must. Finds delight in Romance, Erotica, Memoir, Historical Fiction, Alternate History Fantasy.
GEMINI: Must capture interest in the first sentence. No slow starts. Must also be intelligent. sharp and fresh. Bestsellers are excellent for conversations/social gatherings. Loves a good “whodunnit”, Medical or SF Romance, Urban Fantasy, Crime-procedural, Self-Help, Literary Fiction.
CANCER: Loves tales of the past, historical, classical, haute sensibilities – Jane Austin! But not afraid of the darker side of fiction. Must engage the emotions. Will tolerate almost anything as long as there is a non-contrived HEA. Cook Books, Vampire, Mystery, Paranormal. Of course Romance!

FULL MOON @14 Cancer
LA– Sunday – 8:54 pm
NY – Sunday – 11:54 pm
LON – Monday – 4:54 am
SYD – Monday – 3:54 pm
ARIES: This is time to bring projects to fruition. With your 4th house home sector activated, you want to tidy up loose ends and check and recheck all goals and directives. Are you headed in the direction you really want to go? Do repairs. De-clutter, inside and out. Adjust course. Laugh at trouble!
TAURUS: Communication with others, especially those you see on a daily basis, has the focus now. There is a surprise there! Suddenly people are saying things that resonate with your soul and give you instant clarity on what step to take next, or not. Either way, the support, or contrast, is instructional. Listen in!
GEMINI: Any contrasting views around money or shared resources will resolve with everyone’s best interest at heart. Everyone’s!. When it comes to core values and authenticity, you’ve got it all going on. It’s smoother sailing ahead. Hidden in the depths emerges a new talent or skill. Cherish it!
CANCER: Your full moon of the year brings a change of heart. Whatever it is you’ve been brooding over, the worry dissolves! You are not going to live that way anymore. Prep for a mini-identity revelation which leads to authentic growth. You feel right when you own your power. Head that way.
LEO: Whatever focus you’ve had on your daily work and ritual routine, it’s time to rein it in and do some soul searching. Venture more deeply into the realm of your dreams, the language of synchronicity and the power of myth. Spend some quiet time on your own. The Muse has something to communicate!
VIRGO: Your friends and associates want you to step up in a new way. Could be a leadership opportunity and a chance to redirect goals, or even an organization, towards greater functionality, greater compassion and creativity. Set any reserve aside and rise to the occasion. Your instigate renewal and illumination.
LIBRA: This moon highlights more than your career, mission and profession: it’s about your life’s work. Tune into what you want and own it. You’ll get the notice and attention you need to take the next step. Think big, creative and productive. There is always more room at the top, for you.
SCORPIO: Your beliefs about ‘reality’ are up for questioning and you can see the bigger picture, beyond cultural and social conditioning. This is a time to explore your core thoughts, inside and out. Ask which serve you, and then which could serve you better. The doors to expansion open.
SAGITTARIUS: The attention turns away from personal security towards joint resources and shared intimacy. How are you connecting to others? Is there true communion? Sharing? Co-creating? Is your heart feeling in alignment with your goals and core values? Answers lead to a new path, new love.
CAPRICORN: This power lunation in your house of relationship highlights how you balance autonomy AND connection. The key word is balance. Both are authentic, and both deserve reverence and appreciation. Harmony is your goal, not isolation, or smothering. Seek the center of your heart, and live it!
AQUARIUS: This full moon asks you to assess your health and daily care of the body. Really look at what you eat, drink and do with the physical ‘you.’ The opportunity for clarity around any long-term complaints or symptoms is here. Eyes open. With these insight comes health, abundance and peace.
PISCES: The light shines on your individuality, creative expression and the inner child at heart. Tune into to your sense of joy, play and romantic longings, and bring those aspects out into the world. Assess if you have time for adventures for the fun of it. If not, why not? Seriously, play heals.

Hint: Ask, what do I love about life? How can I nurture that more?

Mercury turns retrograde on June 7th, (see times below) and it’s honing up to be a corker. I mean that in the best possible way. If you’ve been throwing yourself into the ‘wrong for you ‘ direction, you hit the skids and anything not tied down goes flying. The best possible way to deal with this is allow it to nurture you. That’s right. Nurture. The apparent backward motion of Mercury is a time to check in to you thoughts, sort through and, in the grace of your own time, hold onto the ones that serve you and release the ones that do not. Simple, easy and relaxed.
If you find you’re getting wound up into a twist, consider that you might not have released the thoughts (plans, expectations, tolerations, assumptions) that aren’t in alignment with your authentic self. Revisit, rethink, reconsider . . . rewind and revision your life however you want it to be. You’re the boss here, not some outside force of telecommunications, technology, physiology or meteorology. You call the shots. Stand up, and do so! If it involves you taking time away from the usual routine, then do so!
Mercury Rx Times June 7th 2014 @ 3 Cancer
LA – Sat – 4:56 am
NY – Sat – 7:56 am
LON – Sat – 12:56 pm
SYD – Sat – 9:56 pm
With Mercury Rx, you want to rethink, reconsider, review, reevaluate ideas and FEELINGS and THOUGHTS in the house where Mercury is transiting. Ask, what constitutes love and nurturing to me? The most primary way you can improve your life at this time is to boost self-Love! Yes, that’s it. Nurture your own heart.
Love yourself despite what you thought were your shortcomings: your character flaws, your love handles, low credit score, police record, your failed marriage, cluttered house, negative thoughts. Love yourself unconditionally. – Jeannette Maw – read more on how to boost self-love!
Remember Mercury Rx is a Trickster energy. It comes along when we are stuck, or a feeling trapped, out of touch with authenticity of SELF. When we get into such a state, sooner or later the Trickster will blow the doors and windows open so we can breathe fresh air again. In the sign of Cancer, the trickster turns our inner, emotional world upside down, so we can get ourselves correct.
Here are scopes based on the ‘solar houses’ sign (your sun sign), or the actual house Mercury is transiting, if you know it. Read all as Mercury goes from Cancer back to Gemini (possibly two different houses for you). Love to hear of your experiences in the comments!
ARIES: Mercury in the 4th house – Thoughts turn to home life, family and symbiotic connections. Give yourself enough ‘me’ time to appreciate recent inner growth and development. Ask what family means to you. Home? Sanctuary. Is there anything you believe that could be limiting your experience of others? Listen. Love. Reflect!
TAURUS: Mercury in the 3rd house – The Mercury Rx puts the Trickster in control of your tongue. You say one thing and they hear another. Emails, sans body language, get misconstrued. Don’t even think about sending text msg without punctuation. But it’s excellent for revising manuscripts or creative projects put on the back burner. Go there!
GEMINI: Mercury in the 2nd house – Use this Mercury Rx to get in touch with what really gives you a sense of peace and happiness, then let go of the outmoded core values and actions. Awareness is the first step. It will lead to skill and talent development that is more authentic than you ever though possible. Expect a clean fresh $$ Vibe.
CANCER: Mercury in the first house – Mercury Rx meanders through your home, work, Self and relationship life. Everything! Best reflect on what you believe about what you do, where you do it, whom you do it with. How? Just set an intention to notice the things you like about your life and smile. Exhale and limitations are going, going, gone.
LEO: Mercury in the 12th house – With Mercury Rx in your solar 12th house, it’s time to go ‘in’ and listen to your dreams. Not daydream/Dollhouse fantasies of achievement, goals, challenges and actions, but really sink deep into the depths of your soul. What messages are welling up from there? Watch for synchronicity, tune into feelings, be of service.
VIRGO: Mercury in the 11th house – Mercury Rx in your 11th house of friends and groups can turn the usual gatherings into a mix of emoticons, all rolling about in different directions. The question is how do you feel? Allow for a new view when it comes to social connections, and find ways to relax amid the tension. Gems emerge when you aren’t looking.
LIBRA: Mercury in the 10th house – Career, mission or profession can feel like a dream time journey, with the auto focus weaving in and out! This is good news! For the next three weeks you let go of trying to micromanage your future and ‘make things happen.’ Let your neurons relax so the universe can open new doors to infinite possibilities!
SCORPIO: Mercury in the 9th house –Travel or study plans turn into the trickster’s playground for the next three weeks. Deep breaths. Remember, it’s not about forging ahead right now, but finding peace and serenity in the midst of contrast. Take time out to reconsider your world view. Is it what you think, or what you are expected to think?
SAGITTARIUS: Mercury in the 8th house – Mercury Rx in your house of shared resources has you reconsidering any joint financial arrangements, both income and debt. As you sift through possibilities, you’ll discover creative ways to organize and restructure the boundaries to your liking. You decide, but not yet. Let it marinate for a while. Go have fun.
CAPRICORN: Mercury in the 7th house – Communication with partners, practical or intimate, goes a bit zany– muddled and/or blurred! It’s not the best time to come to any conclusions as wires get crossed. Use your gut feelings to make choices that can’t be delayed, and ask what you believe about partnerships. Rethink your relationships, without judgement.
AQUARIUS: Mercury in the 6th house – Mercury Rx through your 6th house of well-being says reconsider your lifestyle. Is this really what you want, or are you there because of circumstances ‘beyond your control?’ (ha!) Take stock of your nutrition, exercise, healthy care, comfort zone and routine. Start with what you believe about your body! More Self-Love! More magic!
PISCES: Mercury in the 5th house – This is a time to go into cruise control on the creative realm and practice the art of allowing. Think play, recreate and relax. Consider where you can expand your beliefs and live more in the ‘now’. The goal is to drop judgment and experience life in the red hot moment. And it will be red hot!
Happy Mercury Rx. Have fun as you slow down the pace and give everything a re-think!

With the New Moon in Gemini trine Mars in Libra think fresh ides, insights and of course, a powerful backdrop to set new intentions. It also falls into the ‘Gemini decanate’, meaning it’s talkative, curious and flighty, all about multitasking. The fluid and flexible, quicksilver, eternal student is unleashed.
Gemini says, “Lets TALK” and this new moon is all about the conversation. To add dazzle, mystery and intrigue, it is also square Neptune, the unseen real, what lies behind the veil. Things may not be all that they seem, or what people say they are. Double takes required.

LA – Wed – 11:41 am
NY – Wed – 2:41 pm
Lon – Wed – 7:41 pm
SYD – Thur – 4:41 am
The Gemini new moon asks us to think about the brainstorm, the free flow of ideas, the absences of judgment, the potential for something original to rise from the recombination of pre-loved ideas. This is not gossip, Q & A, dictation, dissertation or denouncement. It’s not teaching or learning in any traditional sense. This is Open Mind, and in Gemini, it’s a journey for two, one that can bring lasting transformation.
To amp this process up even more, look to where 7 degrees of Gemini is in your natal chart and immerse yourself in the environment of that house. Not sure how to find the transit? Here is a tutorial. If all efforts still have you scratching your head, ask for help in the comments. I, or another savvy member of the 11th House will help.
Happy New Moon, Everyone. I’d love to hear about the conversations, brainstorms and new intentions!

With Mercury (thoughts and communication) involved, it’s a chance to ‘reset’ our focus, thinking in new ways, particularly in the area of life where you find 0 degrees of your cardinal signs, the natural ‘cardinal cross’ in your chart.
As the first degree of Libra, this placement says, “I relate”, suggesting how our drive to interact with others in socially significant ways . We’ll want to move that from the realm of ‘ideas’ out into the world of others. It’s a chance to put awareness on our thoughts and ways of communicating. Be ready to capture the attention of others!
On the 11th, Venus moves into the sign of Scorpio, a powerful, intense and dramatic ‘cloak’ for this ‘relationship’ energy. Venus does rule our one-to-one dynamics but let’s remember this planet is also about our core values, self-esteem and sense of abundance. A great exercise to get into alignment with our core self is the ‘Worthiness Magic’.
Get a little notepad and on the first page write, I am worthy . . . write it a few times, just to get in the head space. Then go with some specifics. It might look like this:
I am worthy . . .
I am worthy of love . . .
I am worthy of closeness . . .
I am worthy of connection. . .
I am worthy of happiness . . .
I am worthy of my family . . .
I am worthy of my power . . .
I am worthy of success . . .
I am worthy of my place in the world . . .
I am worthy . . .
Do the exercise once a day while Venus is in Scorpio and watch your world change!
The Full Moon in Pisces is on the 19th. This is a powerful time to tune in to inspiration, intuition and creative impulse. Synchronicity abounds, so open your eyes to this magical aspect of life.
Full Moon in Pisces softens some of the harder edges around current astro, the Pluto/Uranus square in particular. It’s all in the mind, how you choose to respond to the experiences around you. Take this as a cue to empowerment and remember, you decide!
Pluto goes direct on the 21st, tuning us into events and emotions from December 2012. Release resistance to any contrast or upset. No point having a power struggle with yourself!

This boost our energy, vitality and drive as we seek to express through society, partnership, collaboration and all forms of relationship. Get out there and shine!

August begins with a feisty Mars/Jupiter opposite Pluto square Uranus. It’s a vibe for the whole month as multiple planets and asteroids* in the sign of Cancer keep their fingers on the trigger. What to expect?
The very best change you desire! You want to get intentional with this!
It’s supercharged energy! Whatever you have to do – holy moly – you get it done. If there are no tasks at hand, I recommend exercising your butt off. This is rocket fuel in the tank. Sit on it, and something might explode!
One proviso for the whole month: avoid rushing blindly or forcing things, especially when operating heavy machinery/ working with sharp objects. Go with mindful awareness and power productivity!
The New Moon is on the 6/7th lights up the Leonian sky, joined by asteroid Apollo, lord of light and Mercury into Leo on the 8th. The shift is toward creative self expression, in an ‘open mic’ kind of way. Every moment is an opportunity to play, recreate and speculate on how things can get better and better. Set your intentions with the aim to release shackles and be the real you!
Mercury is trine Uranus on the 15th. Put up your lightning rod and catch those genius ideas. Pitch, launch, pull the trigger on any new enterprise. It’s magical. Venus follows the next day with an ingress into Libra, her power sign. She’s at home here, offering support in relationships, artistic expression, romance (which isn’t quite the same thing as relationship) and sensual abundance. Think elegant, articulate, commanding.
The Full Moon @28 Aquarius on the 20th pulls in Mercury and Neptune, potentially a trickster combo that coincides with surprise. If you practice more ‘mindful awareness,’ new insights will pop up in the form of synchronicities. Jupiter squares Aquarius ruler Uranus, so whatever you’ve been holding back could fly off the handle. Let her rip! It’s not good to repress Mother Nature (ie you).
The Sun glides into Virgo on the 22nd and on his heels, Mercury, messenger of the gods, follows. Where ever you have Virgo in your chart, the light switches on. Get practical, analytical, sensual and discerning here. Oh, and organized. You’ll be very busy in this area of life!
