NEW MOON September 30th/October 1st
@8 LIBRA 15
‘
LA – Friday – 5:12 pm
NY – Friday – 8:12 pm
LON – Saturday – 1:12 am
SYD– Saturday – 10:12 am

This lovely new moon in Libra is on the fixed star Vindemiatrix, and asteroid Pandora, the mischief makers. With ruling Venus, energetic Mars, expansive Jupiter, pragmatic Saturn, mystical Neptune and game changer Pluto involved, we’re in for a dynamic time.

The intentions you set on this new moon will bring change for the better, as long as you are in touch with what you really want. Release ANYTHING that drains; fuel EVERYTHING that excites. Remember, this is trickster energy. The goal is to balance; the method could involve tipping the apple cart. Don’t judge. Allow.

Notice the New Moon falls in the FIRST Decan of Libra (between 0 and 10 degrees) taking on a Venus-Venus quality. In spite of the Trickster afoot, the New Moon leans towards easy going, with a cultivated and gentle nature. Nothing course or raw here, especially with Mars exalted in Capricorn. It’s sensual and artistic; social and attracting. Loves company. Wants to express creativity.

Check the scopes for sign by sign hints.

AriesARIES: The New Moon in your house of personal one-to-one relationships, business or pleasure, has a gentle but persistent breakout feel! You are letting go of anything that smacks of ‘toleration’ and getting on with life. Bold, dynamic and ready to improve the situation. Get thee to the high road!

TaurusTAURUS: Take this vitalizing energy and pour it into your health and well-being. Set new gym goals, start the best ever nutritional program and light a fire under all your beliefs about what you can and can not achieve. Drop anyone or anything that fails to support; exalt the things that do!

GeminiGEMINI: This is all about co-creation, brainstorming, mind-melds and magic Muse conjuring. There is a project at hand that benefits from partnership. All you have to do is reach out. If at first no one steps up, partner with your Muse, your ever present creative spirit who is waiting to be invited in!

CancerCANCER: If there is one place to ‘get yourself correct’ this month it is in the home and those you live with. Think external – repairs, Feng Shui, de-clutter, collaborative sanctuary creation mode. Internally – emotional peace and psychological stability with connections. One supports the other. Get to it!

LeoLEO: Your New Moon is in the house of communications, supporting rash and honest ‘clearing of the air’ statements. This gets you and all your relationships on track, up to date and free of constraint. No more hedging the difficult ‘issues’. Let it out. Purge. Connect! Do it!

VirgoVIRGO: This New Moon is all about developing talents and resources that will support you. No going it alone! There is someone out there who is ready to collaborate, fueling your creative genius. Connect with two goals in mind – creative self-expression and financial abundance. Nice.

LibraLIBRA: This is your personal New Moon and with it comes the creation of balance between what you experience as Self and what you perceive as Other. No more all or nothing when it comes to partnerships and unions. Your primary relationship is with you. Nurture that AND explore the new connections!

ScorpioSCORPIO: This is you ‘shadow’ New Moon, a time where you chill, meditate, immerse in beauty and form connections to your inner world. (‘Imaginary’ friends can be most beneficial right now!) Call on your angels, conjure your ‘Deamon‘ and raise your phantom! Explore behind the veil!

SagittariusSAGITTARIUS: The ‘friendship’ New Moon is upon you! Get out of any routine, or spiral trajectory, find honor and appreciate the bejazza out of your friends. Celebrate the people in your life who vibe like you, understand your quirks and love all the crazy things you do. Connect. Connect. Connect!

CapricornCAPRICORN: Time to buff up your public identity and connections to the collective! A glorious New Moon of empowerment, potential and ultra-savvy leadership awaits. It’s not about having to be perfect. It’s about having a generous heart, caring about your people and aspiring with integrity.

AquariusAQUARIUS: You will LOVE this New Moon, as long as you have ‘space’ around you, which is a state of mind. Let go of all the ‘facts’ and things you know ‘for sure’. It’s time to be mind blown by the realm of infinite possibilities. As you travel (real or metaphorical), you meet friends /lovers along the way!

piscesPISCES: The New Moon in Libra is an arrow pointing towards intimacy, connection and transformation through love. All you have to do is show up. In your willingness to become more than you already are, surrender to the call of the wild, the unknown, the unknowable. Merge! All this to reform you.

Share what’s happening for you in the comments, and have a fabulous New Moon, everyone!

New Moon Eclipse @9 Virgo 21′
September 1, 2016
LA – Thursday – 2:04 am
NY – Thursday – 5:04 am
LON – Thursday – 10:04 am
SYD – Thursday – 7:04 pm

Welcome to the season of the Eclipses. For the next 24 hours, rest, relax, repose. Nothing has to be decided yet, especially with the new moon nigh.

The September Eclipse Season starts with the New Moon in Virgo on September 1, where new beginnings and adventure mixes with production oriented Saturn and action hero Mars. All the planets are operating against the backdrop of Mercury retrograde until the 22nd. Two steps forward, one back? Maybe, but you don’t want to stress about it.

The best strategy, and you do want a strategy, is to plan, brainstorm and negotiate, ready to launch and action your new inspirations late September or October. Meanwhile, it’s the perfect time to bring more ritual into the daily routine, amping up both ‘heart’ and ‘practicality’. Appreciate what is working and feel compassion and reverence for all life, beginning with your own.

Virgo is about skill development, and the rituals in life that are constantly creating and re-creating our experience of reality. Think – ritual magic, new beginnings, initiation and awareness. You start creating habits that make life better, for you.

Read your ‘solar houses’ below, and the house where you find 9 degrees Virgo.

AriesARIES/6th house:The New Moon Eclipse in your house of health is the perfect time to start supportive new habits in the realm of diet, exercise and daily ritual. Think of your body as your best friend. What do you feed her? How do you keep her fit and active? When do you let her rest? Play? Explore? Connect? Amp up the self-care.

TaurusTAURUS/ 5th house: The creative and playful sphere of the heart is awakened at this New Moon Eclipse. Ask what rituals do you have in place around your artistic expression? Is it haphazard, random or so strict there’s no room to breathe? Set into motion some healthy ways to connect to your inner child. Make them fun!

GeminiGEMINI/ 4th house: The New Moon Eclipse lights up your home, family and emotional security sector. What are you doing to feather your nest, metaphorically and literally? Ask how ritual can improve this area of life. Regular family dinners? Time with rels that could use your expertise? Renewed Feng Shui in the home? Go big!

CancerCANCER/ 3rd house: This is the perfect time to create new habits around self-talk, verbal communication and written or spoken expression, teaching and leaning. Notice how you connect socially around familiar haunts, and then start putting more conscious awareness on your thoughts. Remember, they turn into things!

LeoLEO/ 2nd house: New Moon Eclipse amps up your house of money, a representation of your inner core values and self-esteem. This is excellent for boosting feelings of self-worth and setting in place new habits of care, respect and generosity. Let go the critical and embrace the abundance of non-judgment. So freeing!

Virgo VIRGO/first house: This is your ‘birthday’ New Moon and ideal for starting any new project that has your ‘heart’s desire’ in it. Most likely opportunities are rolling in. You get to pick your favorite and lavish it with positive energy. The trick is to not become totally obsessed. Start a habit of balance in everything you do.

LibraLIBRA/ 12th house: The New Moon Eclipse in Virgo is your ‘Dream Moon’ as it activates your unconscious mind. Up comes all the buried treasures in the form of inspiration, epiphanies, synchronicities and head over heels love interests. Treat this like a preview of coming attractions. Nurture, respect, revel and enjoy!

ScorpioSCORPIO/ 11th house: The New Moon Eclipse in the house of friends is a wonderful opportunity to bring healthy habits of connection into being. Your powers of discernment are heightened, helping you know intuitively which birds of a feather you want to flock with. Remember, to have a friend, be a friend. Spend some time there!

Sagittarius SAGITTARIUS/ 10th house: Attention to detail and a feeling of new beginnings lights up your career sector. This is where you put new habits into place. If you’ve been overworking, pull back. If it’s been hard to focus, you practice new skills. As support and opportunities land, create the perfect balance of work and play.

CapricornCAPRICORN/ 9th house: This is your ‘Exploration Moon’ as a thirst for the unknown activates every cell in your body. What you thought was a closed door, a limitation or block, opens wide and you walk on through. The habit of open-mindedness can be developed now with very little effort. Easy breezy enlightenment time!

Aquarius AQUARIUS/ 8th house: The Virgo New Moon  Eclipse is a chalice of overflowing opportunity where you create new habits around shared resources. This means anything from finances, borrowed or loaned funds, creative projects and even intimate, erotic expression can take on new meaning in your life. Think Renaissance!

piscesPISCES/ 7th house: This is your ‘Relationship Moon’ where you can examine your personal one-to-ones and put into place more supportive, loving and caring habits. Old unconscious behaviors dissolve, replaced by mutual respect and reverence for life with another. Boundaries improve creating more room for unconditional love.

It takes 21 days to start a new habit. Let’s set fabulous intentions now!

Astro_LOA Flash: Mercury turns retrograde, an apparent backward motion from May 18 to June 11 and crossing 13 to 4 degrees of Gemini. You can see the full retrograde zone below.

Retrograde zone via Cafe Astrology

Rx zone via Cafe Astrology – click to enlarge

Learn more about transiting Mercury and Mercury Retrograde in these tutorials.

It’s definitely Trickster time and the best approach is to LAUGH! That really is good medicine.

Not that there’s anything pathological going on, but seriously, loosen up. Approach this time with a lighthearted curiosity.

Review what Mercury Rx mean. Metaphorically, the messenger of the gods is slowing down, going back over old territory, signalling a time for you to rethink your beliefs, MO, approach, actions, desires and above all thoughts, especially in the area of life where you find 4 – 13 Gemini. If you aren’t sure, ask for help in the comments!

To allow for change, we have to get flexible with our ideas. So now is the time to be more open, curious and ready to see another perspective. Relish this! It’s a chance to grow in so many ways.

What about buying computers, losing keys, traveling and signing contracts?

I receive a lot of emails that begin with, “I want to  _____ but am freaking out because Mercury is Rx. What do I do?”

The answer is, you relax. Remember? We are meant to rethink things, reconsider and see the world in a new way. If we stay open, curious and laughing, and ready to welcome Trickster energy into our lives (because the Trickster only shows up when we are stuck and need a shake up!) then Mercury retrograde becomes an enlightening time, restorative and refreshing.

At the same time, it makes sense to allow for potential delays. Leave for the airport a few minutes earlier. Double check for the tickets, the keys, the shopping list the passport. Research more than shoot from the hip. Become more zen, more aware.

You can see how this is good for the soul, yes?

Hints by zodiac sign for WHERE you want to relax, rethink and restore.

AriesARIES: The Mercury Rx puts the Trickster in control of your tongue. You say one thing and they hear another. Emails, sans body language, get misconstrued. Don’t even think about sending text msg without punctuation. But it’s excellent for revising manuscripts or creative projects put on the back burner. Go there!

TaurusTAURUS: Use this Mercury Rx to get in touch with what really gives you a sense of peace and happiness, then let go of the outmoded core values and actions. Awareness through stillness is the first step. It will lead to skill and talent development that is more authentic than you ever though possible.

GeminiGEMINI: Mercury Rx meanders through your home, work, Self and relationship life. Everything! Best reflect on what you believe about what you do, where you do it, whom you do it with. How? Just set an intention to notice the things you like about your life and smile. Exhale and limitations are going, going, gone.

CancerCANCER: With Mercury Rx in your solar 12th house, it’s time to go ‘in’ and listen to your dreams. Not daydream fantasies of achievement, goals, challenges and actions, but really sink deep into the depths of your soul. What messages are welling up from there? Watch for synchronicity, tune into feelings, receive.

LeoLEO: Mercury Rx in your 11th house of friends and groups can turn the usual gatherings into a herd of wild horses, all galloping off in different directions. Not lot of control. Allow for a new view when it comes to social connections, and find ways to relax amid the chaos. Gems emerge when you aren’t looking.

VirgoVIRGO: Career, mission or profession can feel like a dream time journey, with the auto focus weaving in and out! This is good news! For the next three weeks you let go of trying to micromanage your future and ‘make things happen.’ Let your neurons relax so the universe can open new doors to infinite possibilities!

LibraLIBRA: Travel or study plans turn into the trickster’s playground for the next three weeks. Deep breaths. Remember, it’s not about forging ahead right now, but finding peace and serenity in the midst of contrast. Take time out to reconsider your world view. Is it what you think, or what you are expected to think?

ScorpioSCORPIO: Mercury Rx in your house of shared resources has you reconsidering any joint financial arrangements, both income and debt. As you sift through possibilities, you’ll discover creative ways to organize and restructure the boundaries to your liking. You decide, but not yet. Let it marinate for a while. Go have fun.

SagittariusSAGITTARIUS: Communication with partners, practical or intimate, goes a bit zany– muddled and/or blurred! It’s not the best time to come to any conclusions as wires get crossed. Use your gut feelings to make choices that can’t be delayed, and ask what you believe about partnerships. Rethink your relationships, without judgement.

CapricornCAPRICORN: Mercury Rx through your 6th house of well-being says reconsider your lifestyle. Is this really what you want, or are you there because of circumstances ‘beyond your control?’ (ha!) Take stock of your nutrition, exercise, healthy care, comfort zone and routine. Start with what you believe about your body!

AquariusAQUARIUS: This is a time to go into cruise control on the creative realm and practice the art of allowing. Think play, recreate and relax. Consider where you can expand your beliefs and live more in the ‘now’. The goal is to drop judgment and experience life in the red hot moment. And it will be red hot!

piscesPISCES: Thoughts turn to home life, family and symbiotic connections. Give yourself enough ‘me’ time to appreciate recent inner growth and development. Ask what family means to you. Home? Is there anything you believe that could be limiting your experience of others? Listen. Love. Reflect!

RE-Bloged from the Supernatural Underground.

What kind of reading personality are you?

Most of us have a preference for certain kinds of books that fall into multiple genres. We also have a style of reading – eclectic, focused, serial, exacting, flitting, browsing. Whatever our approach, it changes over time, representing healthy evolution.

Can these preferences be related to the zodiac?

Test it for yourself and see!

AriesARIES: An independent reader. You like to browse for something that spontaneously lights your fire. Who cares what the critics think? This is all about your desires. No need to hold the thrills, chills and spills. Adventure and conflict a must. Action, SF, Romantic Thriller, War, Page Turners.

TaurusTAURUS: A slower pace isn’t an issue, as long as there is sensuality and pleasure. Woven into the pages is a true alpha hero and a powerful, high libido female. HEA is probably a must. Finds delight in Romance, Erotica, Memoir, Historical Fiction, Alternate History Fantasy.

GeminiGEMINI: Must capture interest in the first sentence. No slow starts. Must also be intelligent. sharp and fresh. Bestsellers are excellent for conversations/social gatherings. Loves a good “whodunnit”, Medical or SF Romance, Urban Fantasy, Crime-procedural, Self-Help, Literary Fiction.

CancerCANCER: Loves tales of the past, historical, classical, haute sensibilities – Jane Austin! But not afraid of the darker side of fiction. Must engage the emotions. Will tolerate almost anything as long as there is a non-contrived HEA. Cook Books, Vampire, Mystery, Paranormal. Of course Romance!

Read the full zodiac over at the Supernatural Underground!

Enjoy!

Chinese New Year of the Sheep 2015

Chinese New Year falls on the NEW MOON @29 Aquarius
L.A. – Wednesday – 3:47 pm
NEW YORK – Wednesday – 6:47 pm
LONDON – Wednesday – 11:47 pm
SYDNEY – Thursday – 10:47 am

February 18/19th is Chinese New Year, the first new moon after the Solstice where the Chinese animal sign changes from Horse to the Sheep. Think “mare to ewe’ as all the Chinese animals are female. This is not the fiery ram of Aries in the Western Zodiac.

As the year of the Green Sheep begins, we enter a slower paced, more relaxed and introspective year. It’s a reflective, sensitive energy that brings plenty of opportunity to tune into feelings and leverage them for our own growth and awareness.

Below are the Astro-LOA sign by sign tips. Remember, if you are a Capricorn or Aquarius by the Western Zodiac, check your sign as Chinese New Year begins at a different time each year.

Rat: 1912, 1924, 1936, 1948, 1960, 1972, 1984, 1996, 2008

The Year of the Sheep is a subtle relief for Rat after the hustle and bustle of 2014 Horse, but you have to dial back a bit to enjoy it. This is the perfect time to re-think ideas, goals and desires for the future and launch them with a renewed and steady enthusiasm. And know, you have what it takes to Knock Their Socks Off as you pitch new projects or apply for a new job. This is a year to discover what you really want when if comes to relationship as well. Prepare to be surprised.

Ox: 1913, 1925, 1937, 1949, 1961, 1973, 1985, 1997, 2009

The year of the Sheep can bring contrast, challenging you to rise to the occasion and expand your awareness. The key is in knowing Life Is Good, no matter what is happening in the outer environment. This is your training ground, and when you’re asked to “give ’em 20” you’ll find yourself fitter and stronger than you first imagined. Confidence is up, because of this, you’re more empowered, vital and alluring. Travel or moving house brings spectacular results!

Tiger: 1914, 1926, 1938, 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998, 2010

In the year of the Sheep, Tiger can feel like there are too many choices that must be made, yesterday. Remember, sheep says relax and find some peace and ease. No need to chase your tail. If you don’t know what to do, trust there will be plenty of time to gain clarity. Romance shines a light as the year warms up so think about activating a Feeling Sexy vibration, of you’ve been to busy with other things. Look after the body with plenty of exercise too!

Rabbit: 1915, 1927, 1939, 1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999, 2011

In the year of the Sheep, Rabbit will enjoy a more steady pace compared to the whirl of last year. You’ll also be in line for high success, so think about activating an “it’s Happening!” vibration. You don’t want your own reticence to hold you back. This is also a wonderful time for romance with a view to long-term partnership so reflect a bit on what your idea partnership looks like. You’re extra alluring now, and that amps your ability to attract money and finances as well. Awesome!

Dragon: 1916, 1928, 1940, 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000, 2012

In the year of the Sheep, Dragon has a burst of creative inspiration. It just pours out. The only hitch might be if you aren’t sure of your path, your purpose in life. If you’re shaky there, not to worry. This is a year for clarity and successful forward motion, though you don’t want to ‘push’ or try and make it happen. You want to relax. The greatest benefits are holidays, meditation, exercise and fitness and a good health regime. Activate the vibe of ‘Dream Vacation‘ for best results.

Snake: 1917, 1929, 1941, 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001, 2013

The year of the Sheep can mean snake is on the move. That’s home, business or relationships, you decide. The key is to be flexible, holding ideas lightly – basically Lightening Up. There could be resistance to the changes, great or small, and we know where that leads – to more of what is undesired. So relax, embrace and allow. This can be your Year of the Manfester, a time when thoughts become things at the speed of light. Are you ready to receive?

Horse: 1918, 1930, 1942, 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990, 2002, 2014

In the year of the Sheep, Horse finds her feet. Whatever hopes you had last year that have yet to materialize, they are rolling in steady now. 2015 is supportive right across the board – Self, relationship, creativity, career, family, health, finances. Basically, the good times really do roll in. You want to pre-pave for that because the freer your vibe, the more expansive the results. Single horses might want to activate New Love Interest. Committed, Get What You Want.

Sheep: 1919, 1931, 1943, 1955, 1967, 1979, 1991, 2003, 2015

Year of the Sheep brings some interesting contrast if you aren’t setting authentic goals and loving your life right here and now. Think of it as a year of self-discovery, and you might be somewhat surprised! First up, don’t be discouraged if Reality Disagrees with What You Want. It’s a temporary state of affairs. Any feelings of jealousy or competitiveness are only signs of something that is very important to you. Take the information and relax. Allow. Grass roots = Activate Health!

Monkey: 1920, 1932, 1944, 1956, 1968, 1980, 1992, 2004, 2016

The year of the Sheep holds as much promise for Monkey as you could ever want, but the kick off is a little shaky. Don’t let that stop you! Pre-pave your desired results by troubleshooting your efforts and un-kinking your vibe. It’s all about relaxing, allowing and floating downstream with peace and ease. If you are going at it tooth and nail, take a beat to re-think. The first few months of the year could lack momentum and clarity. That’s okay as it picks up. Make Peace with the Unknown.

Rooster: 1921, 1933, 1945, 1957, 1969, 1981, 1993, 2005, 2017

The year of the Sheep is going to be fabulous for Rooster, especially in career and creative projects. You’ll want to pitch new ideas and projects with your whole heart, Activating Thriving Business and Filled Up/Sold Out. Business partnership are solid and lead to financial success. For personal relationships, you’ll want to have a clear idea of what you really want. It might be different than you imagined. Health increases with more attention of nutrition.

Dog: 1910, 1922, 1934, 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006

The year of the Sheep brings Dog a new career vibe full of enthusiasm, opportunity a creative advancement. The only hitch is the actual financial backing might be a little slower to arrive than hoped. You can help this along by Activating Money in the Bank. But not all your energy needs to be focused on work. Dog benefits by getting out and playing, afirming that Life is Good. Make sure plenty of exercise and good nutrition is part of the daily routine. You thrive out in nature!

Pig: 1911, 1923, 1935, 1947, 1959, 1971, 1983, 1995, 2007

The year of the Sheep brings dazzling romance to the single Pigs and a renewed delight to committed ones. All across the board, think Great Relationships. Career and finances are also looking up. The only area that might be neglected, because you’re so busy swooning in romantic bliss and raking in the money from your fabulous career, is your health. Be sure to Activate a Healthy Body, and enjoy good strong exercise and nutrition (as prescribe by your health care practitioner).

Achaemenid Gold Lion

Achaemenid Gold Lion

The New Moon in Leo brings the brightness of the primary alchemical goal, the turning of lead (the undifferentiated self) to gold (individuated consciousness). Jupiter conjunct the sun (which fuels everything in the chart – learn more about the sun’s transits here) is boosting the energy sky high, so take advantage of this once every 12 year connection in Leo. Think: What intentions will I set?

On an inner level, the new moon lights up the heart chakra, the anahata chakra. It means unhurt, un-struck, unbeaten. Here is something more than optimism or hope. It is the reality of well being each of us hold in the center of our hearts. Tap into that strength.

The New Moon at 3 Leo conjuncts Talitha, a binary star in Ursa Major representing heart, strength and compassion. With this energy, we look into the heart of the matter which takes courage, integrity and power, all attributes of the Lion. The natural seat of Leo is the fifth house, ruling creative self-expression as in children of the body, mind and spirit including offspring, creative play, literary works, dance, music, drama, love affairs and speculation. Where we find this new moon in our own chart is where we will express boldly, dramatically and with strong intentions of the heart. Set yours now! Sign by sign zodiac hints below.

The full moon in Capricorn is sextile ruling Saturn trine Chiron and amping up that good old grand Cardinal cross in the sky. What does that mean? Breathe, release, let go. There are solutions and pathways that lead you forward, but you won’t see them until you give the grudge match a boot. Stop gnawing old bones and shake yourself free. Step into to the high clean winds of release. Not sure where to apply this ‘drop the tolerations‘ energy? Tips below, signs by sign. If you want to take it further, focus on where this event is in your chart and practice total release of anger, resentment, frustration or disappointment in that area of life. Basically, catch and release your judgments, of self and others. Appreciate and release everything. It’ll change your life.

Notes on Uranus – the Great Awakener

Awakening

Awakening by Maja Sommersted

I’m posting the notes for the Transform with Transits call here as a few people where having trouble downloading them. This is all basic info on Uranus, to get us started.

Think of Uranus as one of the most exciting planets to work with in deliberate creation as this is where we blast through glass ceilings and break out of limiting beliefs! It’s insanely powerful energy!

Uranus has an eccentric orbit between Saturn and Neptune, taking 84 years to make one complete journey around the sun (on complete journey through the Zodiac). He rules Aquarius and is exalted in Scorpio.

He spends 7 years in each sign (where we get the saying, “the 7 year itch,” and represents a desire for freedom, independence, individuation, originality, eccentricity, unconventionality, and the relentless breaking out of fixed cultural and social paradigms.

Basically, he’s a rebellion waiting to happen, and he doesn’t wait long.

He rules all things sudden, unexpected, erratic and unpredictable.

Being slow moving, the house position is very important as it will be more personal. The sign shows is nature of our individuality, our drive for uniqueness, and the way we break free of limitations and cultural restraints. The house shows where we experience unexpected changes and the chance to grow as an individual. It’s where things tend to get ‘weird’.

Uranus has a very extreme orbit, the tilt of the axis being so extreme (see image below) it alternates between periods of 21 years of night in the northern hemisphere (21 years of day in the south, with 21 years of more normal night and day (no doubt the model for George R R Martin’s world building in Game of Thrones) . . .  It’s all in the tilt of the axis.

The natal position of Uranus tells us where we can be “night and day”, individualistic, nonconforming, high-spirited and inventive (and sometimes radical, willful and detached). Aspects to Uranus bring these qualities out and you can imagine that the mix more harmoniously with, say Mars than they do with Moon or Venus.

By transit, Uranus Awakens. This energy coincides with changing the status quo, blasting us through glass ceilings, limitations and ruts. It’s a renewal and when we are open to change, its powerfully transformational.

It’s also powerfully transformational when we resist change, but the sensations are more of disruption that thrill. It’s all in how we perceive the energy! There is a fine line with Uranus between eccentric and unstable.

Note: If you want to see quickly were a client is feeling stuck, burdened or limited, note where Saturn is by transit. If you want to see where life is changing, throwing up radical new challenges, look to Uranus. Just spotting the houses these planets are transiting, and looking to the natal to see how comfortable they are with these containing and releasing energies can identify their biggest key to getting life on track. We build with Saturn, releasing old limitations/stories, and we awaken and evolve with Uranus, freeing up the past and setting new goals.

Remember: Uranus is the great awakener. Flow with the energy for the highest results!

Where Aries is in the chart is where our inner warrior is ready, willing and able to stake our claim, stand up for our rights, boast of our accomplishments and assert, initiate, proclaim and adventure. He is also ready to PLAY, compete and revel in the creative energy of life. Do you let him?

The designers of the zodiac denoted (ARIES) by the symbol of the ram, noted for the ‘directional force’ of its headlong charge. Yet curiously in some old zodiacs the ram is shown not charging, but with its head turned to look back on itself, and the direction from whence it has come.

This gesture seems to tell us something important about the relationship of consciousness and self-awareness to the forward movement of the universe, namely that awareness is oriented in the reverse direction to the thrust. Mysteriously, consciousness and will face different ways. – Dennis Elwell 1987

Dennis Elwell goes on to discuss what boils down to our orientation in time and space. The point being, awareness doesn’t necessarily travel from the past into the present into the future. Possibly, it is quite the opposite. Read more here . . .

“Clairvoyance” by Rene Magritte

Mercury turned retrograde, an apparent backward motion, on the 26th of June and will continue Rx, from 23 degrees of Cancer to 13 Cancer.

Listen to our free monthly recording on Mercury Retrograde It’s About Time.

From there, on the 20th of July, Mercury turns around again, picking up full speed (and out of the Rx zone) by August 3rd. If you know where 13 – 23 degrees of Cancer fall in your natal chart, you can see what house(s) this is lighting up! Tutorial here.

Note also that Jupiter has just moved into the sign of Cancer, to remain for the next 12 months. Use this Mercury Rx to unkink any vibes you have in your Cancer house(s) so you can welcome the abundance of Jupiter unhindered. Questions and comments welcome.

With Mercury Rx, you want to rethink, reconsider, review, reevaluate ideas and FEELINGS in the house where Mercury is transiting. Ask, what constitutes love and nurturing to me? The most primary way you can improve your life at this time is to boost self-Love!

Love yourself despite what you thought were your shortcomings: your character flaws, your love handles, low credit score, police record, your failed marriage, cluttered house, negative thoughts. Love yourself unconditionally. – Jeannette Maw – read more on how to boost self-love!

Remember Mercury Rx is a Trickster energy. It comes along when we are stuck, or a feeling trapped, out of touch with authenticity of SELF. When we get into such a state, sooner or later the Trickster will blow the doors and windows open so we can breathe fresh air again. In the sign of Cancer, the trickster turns our inner, emotional world upside down, so we can get ourselves correct.

Here are scopes based on the ‘solar houses’ sign (your sun sign), or the actual house Mercury is transiting, if you know it. Read both, if they are different. Love to hear of your experiences in the comments!

AriesARIES: Mercury in the 4th house – Thoughts turn to home life, family and symbiotic connections. Give yourself enough ‘me’ time to appreciate recent inner growth and development. Ask what family means to you. Home? Is there anything you believe that could be limiting your experience of others? Listen. Love. Reflect!

TaurusTAURUS: Mercury in the 3rd house – The Mercury Rx puts the Trickster in control of your tongue. You say one thing and they hear another. Emails, sans body language, get misconstrued. Don’t even think about sending text msg without punctuation. But it’s excellent for revising manuscripts or creative projects put on the back burner. Go there!

GeminiGEMINI: Mercury in the 2nd house – Use this Mercury Rx to get in touch with what really gives you a sense of peace and happiness, then let go of the outmoded core values and actions. Awareness is the first step. It will lead to skill and talent development that is more authentic than you ever though possible. Expect a clean fresh $$ Vibe.

CancerCANCER: Mercury in the first house – Mercury Rx meanders through your home, work, Self and relationship life. Everything! Best reflect on what you believe about what you do, where you do it, whom you do it with. How? Just set an intention to notice the things you like about your life and smile. Exhale and limitations are going, going, gone.

LeoLEO: Mercury in the 12th house – With Mercury Rx in your solar 12th house, it’s time to go ‘in’ and listen to your dreams. Not daydream fantasies of achievement, goals, challenges and actions, but really sink deep into the depths of your soul. What messages are welling up from there? Watch for synchronicity, tune into feelings, receive.

VirgoVIRGO: Mercury in the 11th house – Mercury Rx in your 11th house of friends and groups can turn the usual gatherings into a mix of emoticons, all rolling about in different directions. The question is how do you feel? Allow for a new view when it comes to social connections, and find ways to relax amid the tension. Gems emerge when you aren’t looking.

LibraLIBRA: Mercury in the 10th house – Career, mission or profession can feel like a dream time journey, with the auto focus weaving in and out! This is good news! For the next three weeks you let go of trying to micromanage your future and ‘make things happen.’ Let your neurons relax so the universe can open new doors to infinite possibilities!

ScorpioSCORPIO: Mercury in the 9th house –Travel or study plans turn into the trickster’s playground for the next three weeks. Deep breaths. Remember, it’s not about forging ahead right now, but finding peace and serenity in the midst of contrast. Take time out to reconsider your world view. Is it what you think, or what you are expected to think?

SagittariusSAGITTARIUS: Mercury in the 8th house – Mercury Rx in your house of shared resources has you reconsidering any joint financial arrangements, both income and debt. As you sift through possibilities, you’ll discover creative ways to organize and restructure the boundaries to your liking. You decide, but not yet. Let it marinate for a while. Go have fun.

CapricornCAPRICORN: Mercury in the 7th house – Communication with partners, practical or intimate, goes a bit zany– muddled and/or blurred! It’s not the best time to come to any conclusions as wires get crossed. Use your gut feelings to make choices that can’t be delayed, and ask what you believe about partnerships. Rethink your relationships, without judgement.

AquariusAQUARIUS: Mercury in the 6th house – Mercury Rx through your 6th house of well-being says reconsider your lifestyle. Is this really what you want, or are you there because of circumstances ‘beyond your control?’ (ha!) Take stock of your nutrition, exercise, healthy care, comfort zone and routine. Start with what you believe about your body! More Self-Love!

piscesPISCES: Mercury in the 5th house – This is a time to go into cruise control on the creative realm and practice the art of allowing. Think play, recreate and relax. Consider where you can expand your beliefs and live more in the ‘now’. The goal is to drop judgment and experience life in the red hot moment. And it will be red hot!

Align with Wellbeing

Healing Energy by Rita Loyd

The natal chart is an atlas of wellbeing, vitality, authenticity and awareness. Yes, all that! The signs of the zodiac, the planets, Sun and Moon and their interconnections at the time of birth mirror the one being born. Think of it as a symbolic map of your unique energy signature. By looking at the natural expressions and contributions of each zodiac sign and planetary placement, we get a glimpse of our own brand of authenticity — what feels ‘right’ to us. And believe me, if that authenticity of soul doesn’t match our upbringing, parental approval, cultural and social norms, loved one’s expectations etc, we may have repressed or resisted ‘our true Self’. When that happens, the body – mind – spirit alignment get out of balance and we feel ‘dis-ease’.

From this perspective  . . . illness is a message that something in life is not right and needs adjusting. –Howard Sasportas, The Twelve Houses

When we listen to our bodies, we are tuning in to a primal guidance. The body is our first contact with ‘reality’ — what’s perceived as ‘out there’ — and it responds with incredible honesty. This is why body language is so telling! It can’t lie. It can, however, respond to what we believe.

If we say we are dead tired, spun out, going to catch the flu, not strong enough, fat . . . retarded (how politically incorrect does our self-talk get?) guess what? The body LISTENS to us and complies. If we say we are fit, strong, perfect shape, vibrant. . . the body LISTENS and complies. Realize that messages go both ways!

The messages from the body are straightforward but the motivations can be complex. The body mirrors what we tell it, what we really believe and what we were conditioned to think. These messages show us what is unconscious, repressed, resisted, not lived out, and what the payoff might be.

Example: We may want a smoking hot body but if we say, ‘I’m fat and unmotivated’, we reinforce ‘fat and unmotivated’. Then again, if we say, ‘I’m looking good!’ things are going to change asap. Suddenly we are  looking good (pretty much instantly) and ‘things’ begin to happen. This is where things get interesting. If we wanted the smoking hot bod to feel more confident in our intimate relationships or to attract a new love interest, the mind set of ‘I’m looking good!’ is going to start to attract romantic attention BUT IF underneath that desire for hotness is an unconscious fear of relationship, the body will self-protect and default back to fat and unmotivated. (Unconscious desire trumps conscious desire in this instance).

What to do?

1) Know thy Self (awareness)

2) Listen (awareness)

3) Allow balance of mind-body-spirit by releasing resistance (awareness)

Where do we get this key ingredient of awareness? Meditation, walks in nature, connecting to inner joy and peace, doing what you love, amping up self-love, experiencing compassion all support greater awareness; the astrological chart, as a map of wellbeing, pinpoints it!

Astrologically, ease and dis-ease are related to the signs of the zodiac starting with Aries (the head–headaches) to Pisces (The feet–foot/locomotor problems). Each sign wants to express energy in a healthy way but if we resist, repress or deny that sign, the energy kinks and the body ‘carries’ the message for us to see.

Example: Aries wants to be the boss, and Aries rules the head. If you get headaches, you can look to where Aries is in your chart (what house = what area of life) and start taking more control there. Headaches then disappear because you are tapping into and expressing your own authenticity! The message was read and the energy unkinked.

Think of the body as energy mid-way between the ‘worlds’. On one level we have conscious thoughts (mind) on another we have unconscious thoughts (body) and on yet another we have our higher, universal or source energy (spirit). Astrology can help us get these aspects of Self into alignment for a happy and carefree physical existence. The starting point awareness. Begin by listening to your brave and wonderful vessel today.

Feeling good is the universal goal of deliberate creators but getting there is an individual journey. It’s natural for us to find a different Zen, a unique path to our fulfillment. Fortunately, the zodiac, a la the birth chart, is rich with hints that point in the right-for-us direction.

Balance, harmony, relief, liberation, freedom, joy are not a one size fits all commodity. Each sign, by polarity, element, modality and orientation, has much to say about authentic ‘feel goods’ and the quickest way to relief. Here are some key points to consider:

1) Feeling good isn’t absence of stress; it’s balance, mind-body-spirit.
2) Whatever has kinked our vibe has activated our fight or flight response
3) We each have unique ways to release tension, stress and tolerations
4) Our quickest way to relief may not be what we first think!

The fight or flight response deserves its own post (here) but for now know that when confronted with a stressful situation, the body responds in a primitive way. It floods us with adrenaline so we can better attack the threat or run like hell. Period.  As a modern day human, we are taught to ‘deal with it’ but adrenaline doesn’t prep us for this, not even close.

The number one step to stress relief is to physically burn off the adrenaline. It doesn’t matter if its through kick boxing, yoga, laps, table tennis or dog walks. Just move the body. Once the adrenaline levels are down, you can approach the ‘perceived threat’ in a more evolved way. Skipping this step is not an option, once the adrenals kick in. The body cops it and the body has to get rid of it physically through exercise.

The Signs and Stress

Each sign sees things in an entirely different way…because each perceives the world in a different way. -Richard Idemon 1985

Note: Signs are divided by polarity or yin/yang.  They also have a modality or form of motion called cardinal, fixed and mutable. It’s how roll. And, each sign represents an element corresponding to nature, fire, earth, air and water. It’s the elements I want to look at today. Consider their different approach to stress.

Fire signs (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius) thrives on excitement, risk and danger. They don’t often mind being kept on the edge. This element has a high tolerance for stress and thrive under loads that would cripple others. An accent on fire signs in the natal chart makes challenge and conflict a welcome stimulation. What can stress them is lack of drama and excitement. THAT can feel like a trap.

Earth signs (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn) abhor the stress of change and loss of control, especially when sudden and unexpected. There is a desire to experience life through the senses, meeting events in steady, predictable and enduring ways. An emphasis of earth in the natal chart makes project planning, productivity and tangible results a must.

Air signs (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius) tend to handle moderate levels of stress and the pressure of deadlines. The more there is to do, the more they get done. An accent on air in the natal chart may welcome high-tension, social environments that require quick and varied intellectual responses.

Water signs (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces) take on the nuance and character of their environment, having semi-permeable boundaries. Their personal stress levels can reflect the energy of those around them. An emphasis of water in the natal chart often indicates someone who can cope with emotional turbulence when it means they can help and support others.
